ARTICSOFT INTRODUCES FORMIDABLE ALTERNATIVE TO PGP SOLUTIONS. FileAssurity OpenPGP Offers Same High-End Protection at Lower Cost

ArticSoft, a premier information security provider, today unveiled it’s latest high-end data protection software, FileAssurity OpenPGP, that is an easy-to-use and low-cost alternative to complicated PGP protection solutions.

GLENWOOD, MD (PRWEB) August 25, 2003 -- ArticSoft, a premier information security provider, today unveiled it’s latest high-end data protection software, FileAssurity OpenPGP, that is an easy-to-use and low-cost alternative to complicated PGP protection solutions.

FileAssurity OpenPGP uses the same streamlined user interface as FileAssurity, ArticSoft’s flagship PKI-enabled security software package that delivers the highest levels of privacy and data security without technical complexity. FileAssurity OpenPGP, while offering formidable protection comparable to PGP products, supports the encryption and decryption of PGP-protected files as well as the generation, import and export of PGP keys. Users have the ability to share confidential files with companies using PGP, or any other OpenPGP-compliant software.

“FileAssurity OpenPGP offers corporations a strong return on their investments because it provides the same strong protection as PGP-based products at a fraction of the cost,” said Steve Mathews, CEO of ArticSoft. “While PGP’s encryption process is confusing and difficult, users of FileAssurity OpenPGP don’t have to be encryption experts to take advantage of the software.”

Using full-strength PKI technology—the most powerful way for enterprises to protect the security of their communications and business transactions on the Internet—FileAssurity OpenPGP features an easy-to-use interface that requires just one mouse click to protect files. FileAssurity OpenPGP also uses the US Government approved (FIPS 197) encryption algorithm, AES, at its strongest strength, 256 bit. In addition, FileAssurity OpenPGP complies with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Unlike PGP-based products, FileAssurity OpenPGP provides the added advantage of secure file deletion to U.S. government standards. Users can also generate their own certificates and keys or import certificates and keys issued by major certificate authorities such as Verisign and GeoTrust. FileAssurity is also unique in that it contains a list of Root Certification Authorities. Keys signed by public authorities are automatically recognized rather than the user having to manually import Root Certificates. ArticSoft also supplies free reader software so that recipients of secured files can verify and unprotect them in a safe environment without having to purchase FileAssurity software.

FileAssurity OpenPGP works on Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, ME, and XP and is available directly from ArticSoft (www.articsoft.com). A single user license is $49. In addition, a free evaluation copy can be downloaded from the ArticSoft website. A new release of FileAssurity OpenPGP that incorporates expanded features such as central key management/recovery, full integration with Windows Explorer and command-line support will be available in September. Gold support customers will be able to upgrade for free.
