GWGuardian's High Performance Third-Generation Multi-Layered Anti-spam Engine Offers Exceptional Gateway Security for Healthcare Institutions
Messaging Architects announces the release of GWGuardian 3.0, its third-generation messaging firewall. As an enterprise-class application, GWGuardian 3.0 goes beyond pure spam and virus blocking and offers an arsenal of business tools that address other pressing business problems, such as complying with federal regulations that govern the handling of personal data, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) in the healthcare, Nguyen-Huu said. The robustness and high performance of GWGuardian 3.0 made Baptist Health-Arkansas adopt it as the solution of choice for its intensive messaging infrastructure.
Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) March 6, 2004--Messaging Architects, a provider of enterprise-class email security and enhancement software for the Novell GroupWise market, announced the release of GWGuardian 3.0, its third-generation messaging firewall. Taking into account the new trends in "spam technology," Messaging Architects has implemented innovative methodology to eliminating spam and securing an organization's messaging infrastructure. Adopting an aggressive approach against unsolicited mail and viruses, GWGuardian relies on an amalgamation of multiple specialized anti-spam engines that achieve astonishing results. It offers 14 different layers of protection, including the powerful Sequential Content Analyzer,™ to ensure that only legitimate messages make it to end-users' inboxes.
"Each one of the scanning stages in GWGuardian's multi-layered architecture is intelligently ordered to stop spam and viruses at the earliest possible step, yielding maximum CPU throughput to process more complex, often intentionally malformed messages that manage to bypass other anti-spam solutions," said Charles Nguyen-Huu, Messaging Architects’ Director of Strategic Partnerships & eMarketing. "With the GWGuardian suite of products, Messaging Architects is able to put an end to the spam dilemma of any organization, irrespective of size or spam volume. With an out-of-the-box catch rate of 98.2% and 99.99% reliability against false positives, GWGuardian 3.0 has the power to rid your inbox of spam and viruses once and for all."
The new version of GWGuardian also possesses the granularity to allow organizations to assign anti-spam rules by user, group, or network domain and enhanced quarantine capabilities. The new features give email administrators the flexibility to delegate quarantine management or, alternatively, to keep the process completely transparent to the end users.
"As an enterprise-class application, GWGuardian 3.0 goes beyond pure spam and virus blocking and offers an arsenal of business tools that address other pressing business problems, such as complying with federal regulations that govern the handling of personal data, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) in the healthcare," Nguyen-Huu emphasized. "The robustness and high performance of GWGuardian 3.0 made Baptist Health-Arkansas adopt it as the solution of choice for its intensive messaging infrastructure."
Baptist Health switched to GWGuardian in 2003 to protect its 7,500 email users dispersed throughout 40 facilities, including 4 hospitals, from spam and viruses. Previously, Baptist Health Arkansas had made two unsuccessful attempts to protect its seven GroupWise email servers from spam and viruses by using products that were unable to stop unsolicited mail and other harmful threats from entering the GroupWise system, explains Brett Cato, Network Analyst at Baptist Health.
Happy with the ability of GWGuardian to stop spam email, Baptist Health is also using the automatic disclaimer capability of GWGuardian to help it comply with HIPAA regulations with respect to the protection of patient information.
GWGuardian was extremely effective in protecting the Baptist Health email messaging infrastructure from the recent attack of the MyDoom virus. "In the past weeks, we were hit by the MyDoom virus and GWGuardian+AV delivered once again. So far, it has blocked over 14,000 instances of infected email, keeping our GroupWise servers operational and our messaging infrastructure stable and secure," Cato said.

GWGuardian is available both as software and as a stand-alone hardened appliance. It comes in 3 variations: GWGuardian Enterprise Edition, GWGuardian Academic Edition, and GWGuardian.
