SabrNet Supplies HIPAA Compliant Computer Network for Paperless Medical Office
SabrNet designs, delivered and installed a secured and protected computer network for a newly formed medical practice. The network is protected by SabrNet's Unified Threat Management Appliances insuring that the networks meets HIPAA guidelines.
(PRWEB) October 16, 2005 -- SabrNet today announced completion of delivery and installation of its SabrNet protected, HIPAA compliant, computer electronics suite for the newly opened paperless medical office of Vickery Pediatrics and Adolescence Medicine in Alpharetta, GA.
SabrNet Network Security Systems, LLC successfully completed the system design and installation of the medical office’s computer and secure network system. The system is server based with multi-station desktop computers each fully capable of secure and protected communications with the interactive e-commerce website designed for Vickery by SabrNet. Secure and protected patient information over telecommunications media, which includes public IP networks, is required by current HIPAA regulations.
Vickery Pediatrics contracted with SabrNet to supply the entire electronics suite for the new start-up medical practice and for the development of the patient interactive website. SabrNet is also responsible for the network security appliances required to protect the e-commerce activities as well as the outsourcing of medical billing, insurance claims, and financial accounting.
SabrNet provided network design and installation services, computer servers, desktop units, personal tablet PCs, printers, wireless hubs, uninterrupted power supplies and SabrNet Unified Threat Management appliances. SabrNet will develop, host and manage the Vickery e-commerce website and email services. SabrNet will also monitor Vickery’s electronics suite and network performance from its Network Operations Center in Melbourne, Florida via a secure and encrypted telecommunications connection. Monthly reports of network status and website activity will be provided to Vickery.
A key goal for the system was to provide parents with the ability to log into the Vickery website from home and securely enter or review personal information regarding their children’s medical history. This plus preregistration for medical services and scheduling of office visits by the child’s parents adds significantly to the efficiencies of the medical office recordkeeping. The medical information is not hosted on the website, but on the SabrNet secured server at the medical office readily available to the medical team on a moments notice.
Dr. G. Delaney, Chief Physician, and the Vickery medical team utilize electronic wireless clipboards (tablet PCs) to instantly pull up patient records, enter new or changing medical information, and prescribe medical treatment or medicines completely confident in the knowledge that the information is secure and uncompromised.
Dr. Delaney’s use of state-of-the-industry computer technology, software solutions and SabrNet’s expertise in network design and protection, allow the practice to increase patient traffic flow, reduce recordkeeping errors, and meet stringent Federal medical information security requirements.
SabrNet further assisted Dr. Delaney by providing networking technical liaison with the practices’ other contractors which included C-Beyond, local telephone and broadband service and; Price Telecommunications, local telephone equipment; Coker Group; medical practice consultant for Vickery; and EaseMD Systems, the selected software solutions provider.
